Eaton Chocolate

Eaton Chocolate

Eaton Chocolate is located on Hertel Ave and Parker. It has all kinds of chocolate, but I'm focusing on the ice cream today. Because most kids like ice cream. They have tons of flavors, all from Lake Effect Ice Cream. I had the Trick or Treat which is lots of candy put together in ice cream like M&M's, Butter Fingers and Kit Kat. Colin and Patrick had Frozen hot chocolate which is frozen hot chocolate with a hint of marshmallow flavor in it. Mom got Whiskey & Brown Sugar with Bacon, but she ordered hers without bacon. A drawback of it's location is its next to Checkers so all the smoke blows over so you can't really eat outside on their patio.

The pricing is as follows: Baby: $1.50; 1 Scoop:  $2.25; 3 scoop: $4.00: Hand Packed Pints: $5.25.

Papa Jake's

    Papa Jake's

    • Location: Elmwood near Great Arrow.
    •  2 Rooms, 1 is a bar with seats and booths. One has no bar but tables and booths. There are no kids sizes or kids menus. All drinks are in pint glasses. It was a nice atmosphere in the back room but there were people smoking outside, also the waitresses were very nice. My mom loves their fries, which were, I admit, very good.
    • If you went to Canisius  you will see the griffin on the booths and walls.
    • Buffalo Kid: Drink: Ginger Ale, Food: Blue Cheese Burger. It was very good, the blue cheese was melted on top which I did not expect.
    • Colin:Food: Barbeque Ribs. He thought the sauce was not pleasant, not smoked, not baked for long.
    • Mom: Drink: Diet Coke, Food: A cheese burger with American Cheese. She said it was "cooked to perfection", and "on a Costanzos role."
    • Dad: Food: Beef and Cheddar Sandwich. He said " It was good, but if I had to do it again I would just get a beef on weck."
    • Patch: Drink: Pink Lemonade,Food: Half of my Mother's Burger.
    •  Total price for all 5 of us $62.30.
    • I thought the food was good and so did my family, I thought it was a good restaurant to go to. But if you want ribs go to an actual barbeque place.

Santasiero's-Same family serving Buffalo sence 1921

Santasiero's has been owned by the same family since 1921. Proudly serving Buffalo for 5 generations.

    Menu's

Menu's are enlarged on the wall with individual posters of extras around them. There are three rooms the front room with a bar and TV's. The back room with TV's. And a smaller side room with out TV's.

It is located on Niagara and Lafayette.

I had a Half order of Ravioli with a meatball. The sauce was very good and I'm pretty sure the ravioli was home made. I didn't get a chance to ask.I had birch beer as my drink, it was $2.25 for a large plus one refill.

Dad got Half a Spaghetti Parmesan. He said it was very good but could have had more sauce. We also had complementary bread and butter. Dad bought Garlic Bread for the table.

Mom got Half Spaghetti with a Meatball and Mushroom Sauce. My mom said it was what she calls West Side sauce, it means it was good.
Patrick only had Wedding Soup It was a small serving size. He said it was good. It is his favorite kind of soup.

Colin had a Chili in a Cup and Goulash which he barely ate any of.  He loved the Chili but the goulash was dry. Mom said because it was baked.

    They have nice staff also.
A very good dinner all in all.
    Total: 69.60 and 20.00 tip.

    Olive Garden, Dearborn MI

Over the weekend I went to Dearborn MI for my cousins wedding. While at our hotel we went to Olive Garden due to its close proximity to the hotel and our lack of a car since we flew. It was very nice inside, but a 30 minute wait. they give you a buzzer with a number on it for when your table is ready. I believe the theme is Tuscany, and the plants inside, though they look fake, are real. They also have complementary Breadsticks with dip at aditional cost if you want it. I had a Parmesan Crusted Tilapia, a fish, with chicken gnocchi soup. Gnocchi is Potato Dumplings. The tilapia was very good it had assorted vegetables like squash and zucchini. My Mother had Mixed Grill or Chicken steak kabob with vegetables. It looked like everything that fell off of the grill. For example steak and chicken. My brother Colin had Pasta with Tomato sauce. He ate barely any of it,but hardly eats anything anyway. Dad had Tour of Italy which is lasagna, chicken Parmesan and Fedichini Alfredo. His exact words were,"It was awful. It was clearly precooked and then warmed up." the pasta was crunchy and crusty and the chicken was overcooked and inedible. Did I mention he hates Olive Garden? My little brother Patrick had Ravioli with broccoli, that he never got,on the side and chocolate milk. All in all my family, except me, hated it. The grand expensive total was....$113.34 dollars. My father said it was a complete and utter waist of money.

    Red White and Blueberry cheesecake

A recipe I got from Allrecipes.com Ingredients 8 sheets phyllo dough 1/4 cup butter, melted 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese 1/2 cup white sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 eggs 2 cups fresh blueberries 1/2 cup strawberry jelly 1 cup heavy cream, whipped (optional) Directions Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). On a flat surface, place one sheet of phyllo dough. Brush it with melted butter, and cover with another piece of phyllo. Repeat until all 8 sheets are used. Using kitchen scissors, cut layered phyllo into a 12- to 13-inch circle. Carefully press circle into a greased 9-inch pie plate; gently fan edges. Bake in preheated oven until edges are just golden, 6 to 8 minutes; cool slightly on a wire rack. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs until well combined. Fold in 1 cup of blueberries. Pour filling into prepared crust. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) until set, 40 to 50 minutes. To prevent the crust from over-browning, gently cover pie with foil for the last 25 minutes of baking. Cool completely on a wire rack. In a small bowl, beat jelly until smooth; spread over cheese filling. Arrange 1 cup blueberries on top in a star pattern. Wellington Pub

The Wellington Pub is located on Hertel between Parkside and Wellington.
The kid in the picture IS NOT me, it is my brother. My brother Colin had BB-Q Wings. Since it was wing night, a special where all wings are 40 cents off. My Mother got 10 wings, and my Father got 10 wings. My mother and Father both got small Caesar salads with the wings. The salads were properly dressed but the dressing was a bit tangy. They give it a 3 out of 5. I had a BB-Q bacon blue cheese Burger.( hold the BB-Q)It is very big and i have eaten all of it every time.
I love the burger and get it almost every time I go there. The Monster Burger in the picture is on a costanzo's roll.
The Wellington Pub has 6 TVs 3 in the bar, 2 in the main dining room, and 1 in the Party/extra seating room. There is patio seating, and if you have a little one they have high chairs. I must say though, it is one of my favorite restaurants, but there is a bit of a wait. Rating 4 and a half of 5.

    Parkside Candy

Location: Main Street and Winspear near University of Buffalo's South Campus. The outside could use some work, but the inside is nice. We were told that people come inside and take pictures all the time because it looks old fashioned. The inside is round with wood and plaster molding all over the walls and ceiling, even the glass cases had fancy wood stands. The floor is black and white, and they have long tables, small round tables, and a crescent shaped booth at the back.

Service: When you walk in there are a bunch of tables with candy on them to pick from, there are also glass cases full of chocolates, and an ice cream bar. Two helpful ladies were there to make the ice cream and sell the candy. You can also get served at the tables if you are there for lunch.

Food: They have a lot of candy and chocolates, ice cream, and a small menu of soup, sandwiches and desserts that you can order at the tables. We ordered our ice cream at the counter and it was brought to our table. We sat in the crescent booth at the back. The place mats were round doilies, that my Mom thought was a nice touch. My brothers ordered one scoop sundaes with choice of toppings, and I ordered a root beer float that came with extra root beer.

Kid Stuff: They have candy and ice cream, what kid doesn't like that!

Overall rating: I'm giving it 6 out of 5 Lego bricks because it was so awesome!

You give your name and when your order's ready they call your name. They have seating in and outside, with speakers so you can here you name called. Most Anderson's have the same design but a different layout.

    Bella Mia

Today I will review Bella Mia Chocolate Shoppe

Location: It is located on the corner of Hertel Avenue and Tennyson near Delaware Avenue.

Service: They are very nice and helpful.

Food: If by food you mean candy, chocolate and ice cream, then yes they have a lot of it. They have Perry's ice cream, milk shakes, slushies, and lots of chocolate like sponge candy and truffles. They have lots of candy including new and old favorites like wax lips, candy lipstick, fruit wedges, and Harry Potter's Berty Botts Every Flavor Beans. They also have Crystal Beach Candy over in their Canadian section. This is where my Mom gets hard to find Cadbury candy for my English Great-grand Mother. They have cool metal lunch boxes.

Overall rating:4 and a half Lego brick out of 5.

    Grumpys

    Today I will review Grumpy's.

Location: It's on the corner of Hertel Avenue next to Holy Angels. They have lots of tables with umbrellas outside, and two tents to sit under. The inside is small with a counter and stools, bathrooms, and their trophies for The Golden Scoop Award 2009, and baseball awards.

Service: There is no table service, so you order and pay from the nice staff at a window. When your order is ready they will call your name, to pick up at the next window. Sometimes at the end of the night when they are getting ready to close they will give out gummy worms. It's happened to me twice.

Food: They have grill stuff, hot dogs, burgers, Pepsi products and 31 flavors of Hersey Ice Cream. I like their German Chocolate cake ice cream. The owner Mr Grumpy said he chose Hersey's ice cream over Perry's because they have more flavors. He also said the rolls are from Costanzo's Bakery, which is why my mom likes their cheeseburger so much. That and the thick cheese. All the food tastes good.

Kid Stuff: They have lots of ice cream and good food. There's not much to do there, but it is near Shoshone Park which has a big kids playground, baseball diamonds, and a basketball and tennis court.

Overall rating:5 out of 5 lego bricks ATTENTION LOYAL AND VALUED FANS GRUMPY'S IS NOW CLOSED

    Mississippi Mudds

CLOSED Today I will review Mississippi Mudds.

Mississippi Mudds is located across from Niawanda Park, along the Niagara river. The street is Niagara street. One good thing about it is you can get the food to go, and go sit by the water ( I recommend going here for first time visitors to the City of Tonawanda).

Service: There is no table service so you go wait in line and order from this guy at the counter - you tell him what you want and he'll say it into a microphone and the kitchen will hear it and make it - then you pay. We went at lunch time and it took 4-5 minutes. That's good time!

Food: Their ice cream is Perry's ice cream and their Hot dogs are Sahlen's brand, both are made here in Buffalo. They have a lot of Ice cream flavors (I like their Parker House - Its vanilla with cherries in it) they have mint chip, cotton Candy, and many others. When I was there I ordered a hot dog, small fountain pop(root beer),and sweet potato fries. It was a perfect day out so my mom brought my baby brother with us (age 2).He got a cheeseburger and fries. My brother who likes mighty taco complained half the time and got a Hot Dog.

Kid Stuff: Their food comes on frisbees instead of plates and they also have a candy shop next door. Plus, when you're done eating you can go fishing.

    BEWARE,there are hundreds of seagulls.

Overall rating: Four Lego Bricks (out of five).

    Thanks for reading!

    Welcome to my new site

Hi I'm BuffaloKid, Of course that's not my real name but my Dad won't let my say my real name.

I started this Blog because I wanted to to be a food critic. He said you should start a blog. This blog would review places that have food kids would like, that kids would think are cool, and are not expensive.

I live in North Buffalo so a lot of these will be in the city but not all of them. Some of my favorite restaurants are: Grumpy's (Ice cream and hot dogs) Mighty Taco - My LITTLE brother can eat 4 tacos or 2 burritos, Teds (more hot dogs, and milk shakes), and Bob and Johns (their pizza buffet rocks!).

Some of my my favorite foods are pizza, Chinese food, and fish.

    Eat up!
